How does environmental policy affect our everyday lives? Under the motto “Your day – our issues,” the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN) invited visitors to its building on Potsdamer Platz. In an interactive exhibition, visitors could learn how environmental policy shapes our everyday lives – from brushing our teeth in the morning to taking an evening stroll in the park.

The concept was characterized by a creative and resource-efficient use of materials: almost exclusively used materials were used for the design, which were upcycled and converted into steles, exhibits, and display objects. In this way, sustainability was not only communicated, but also implemented in the design.

Special attention was paid to young visitors. Along an interactive trail, children could play, discover, and collect stamps at five stations. They were accompanied by the mascot Lumi, who guided them through the exhibition with small tasks.

One highlight was the “Biodiversity Experience Room,” where guests used black light flashlights to search for nocturnal animals—an unusual and impressive experience in the middle of the ministry.

The day was rounded off with a colorful supporting program featuring hands-on activities, talks, music, and personal conversations. This meant that environmental policy was not only explained, but also brought to life in a variety of ways.
