The stand of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) at the Green Week 2025 was dedicated to the pressing issues of climate impact adaptation. Under the title “Climate workshop. Together for a good life”, facts and fiction created an interactive space in which visitors could experience in a playful and practical way how climate adaptation can succeed in urban and rural areas.

As a result of climate change, extreme weather events such as severe, prolonged periods of heat and drought, heavy rainfall, storms and flooding are occurring more frequently. Adaptation to climate change is necessary in order to limit and, if possible, avoid the effects. The BMUV presented innovative measures and practical solutions at its stand.

“Complex topics don't have to be taught in an instructive way. Our exhibits invite you to playfully discover new perspectives, understand connections and take away your own food for thought.”

Sina Oswald, Senior Concept Designer at facts and fiction.

The central idea of the workshop was transferred into the space using scaffolding, which served as exhibition space, stage backdrop and workshop space. Other materials such as untreated wood, construction site belts and steel cables emphasized the workshop character. The design used handwritten elements (circles, underlining, ...) to beautifully express the fact that the future can be shaped and changed.

Visitors were able to get active themselves in hands-on workshops - for example, by designing small ecosystems in preserving jars. A varied and informative stage program with interactive formats such as quizzes, bingo games, improv theater and cooking shows also provided knowledge and tips for everyday life.

When designing and implementing the BMUV trade fair stand, the topic of resource conservation was once again particularly important for the agency, as the trade fair participation should not contradict the theme of the trade fair stand. For example, the scaffolding was rented and returned after the event. In addition, facts and fiction once again worked together with the sustainability initiative Trash Galore, which passed the material on to social institutions in Berlin and a second-hand department store in Leipzig after the trade fair.
