The Digital Summit organised by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) is the leading platform for shaping the digital transformation in Germany. In 2023, the summit was held under the motto “Digital transformation at the turn of an era. Sustainable. Resilient. Future-oriented.” and took place on 20 and 21 November 2023 in the Volkshaus Jena.

With around 1,000 participants, including Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Federal Minister Dr. Robert Habeck (BMWK) and Dr. Volker Wissing (Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, BMDV), as well as high-ranking representatives from various sectors, the summit offered a unique opportunity for dialogue and the development of digital policy topics for the future.

The Digital Summit was intended not only as a forum for dialogue, but also as a platform for identifying the key challenges of the digital transformation, encouraging new ways of thinking and presenting possible solutions. At the same time, the aim was to establish the summit as a dynamic dialogue forum in which participants could interact directly with the federal government in order to voice their own concerns and provide forward-looking impetus.

facts and fiction was responsible for the overall planning and realisation of the digital summit, including room planning, guest management, livestream and event design. The stage design, which was closely modelled on the three-part key visual, deserves special mention. The individual parts of the key visual were projected onto the stage. A dynamic overall picture was created, not least thanks to impressive motion designs.

As with all BMWK projects, special attention was paid to the sustainable approach: the stage design relied specifically on light and projections, which was not only aesthetically pleasing but also resource-saving.

Highlights of the Digital Summit:

– No fixed stage programme: over 40 programme slots were available to choose from in order to offer participants a tailor-made experience.

– Market of digital opportunities: Companies and civil society presented Thuringia's most innovative technologies to demonstrate the region's diversity and innovative strength.

– Three-part stage design: An innovative staging with polygonal projection surfaces created an impressive visual experience and emphasised the theme of digital transformation.

The Digital Summit 2023 in Jena was a complete success and consolidated its position as the leading platform for digital dialogue in Germany. The creative implementation and diverse programme content inspired participants to adopt new perspectives and provide forward-looking impetus.
