"Young people are not passive political grounders" - with these words, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier symbolically handed over the key to Schloss Bellevue. This marked the first time that 150 young people took over the residence of Germany's highest political officeholder for two days - kicking off the "Takeover Bellevue."

During the two days, the young people discussed various political topics such as inclusion, climate protection or digitization in workshops and developed project ideas from them. This was accompanied, among other things, by the Instagram channel of the Federal President, which was maintained by the young people during the event. With the Takeover, young people who have been restricted and slowed down by the pandemic were offered a platform for their future aspirations.

The workshops took place in the historic rooms of Schloss Bellevue and in tents in the surrounding park. Individual and topic-specific spaces were created for each workshop. Creative and sustainable furniture solutions - e.g. technology cases as tables - ensured a participative working environment.

The newly developed design also underlines the uniqueness of the event: Here, the challenge was to find a successful mix between the representation of the office and the presence of the young people. Through the symbiosis of the corporate design of the Office of the Federal President with a playful youthful touch, a new look was created.

The highlight of the event: the young people presented their work on the stage of the 3,000m² circus tent set up for the occasion in front of Federal President Steinmeier, his wife Elke Büdenbender and various representatives of the press. Their passionate contributions in workshops called "IncluCulture", "Speak for participation", and "Heiß.heiß Baby" not only achieved a media response in the end, but also inspired the actual castle residents.
